I understand the logic, BUT I totally disagree with it.

Blue loses 1st round
Blue dominates entire 2nd round. The count-down clock for red is under 15. Red pulls a Hail-Mary and wins the match. Blue is dumbfounded with egg on their faces.

Oh heck yeah! That was a hell of a match, especially if you were on Red. Got our shit together and moved forward with the Ion.
And I think the new timings help this. No more, hey 8 minutes to go we are getting creamed, so sit back and screw off, bored and waiting for the next map, or generally pointless 2-3 min OT. We've seen it a couple times now where you can pull off a dramatic victory in the last couple of minutes.

And that one had a mulligan! I remember Xexx complaining about it, but look at the scores on the stats. Map would have been done in one round, and the rebalance made for a more competitive match.
The Mulligan, as I said, lets you make sure to get at least 2 rounds of a map, max of 4 (but mulligan round is only 4 minutes). I don't think it really prolongs anything and if we get matches that ultimately go to the wire..that's IMO some good excitement right there vs. Oh shit, 2 more rounds of DJY really?!

Happened last night again on Nevermore, we were up 1-0, then getting beat badly next round. Down ~30 core points, and pushed hard to win the match. Really liking the new timings...if you try to sandbag, or think you have it won...maybe not!

Now the sandbagging happens before OT to avoid the mulligan. Not super smart IMO, you could end up losing the match in OT if the other team picks up some strong players.

Yes as there's plenty of time (10 pts of core = ~ 1 minute), for that to happen. Usually to a mulligan means the balancer really f'd up the teams, so better to let it try again for a better match. Steamrolling is fun once in a while, but if its no challenge, IMO, not as fun.
