Re: Map comebacks... some thoughts..

On AJY, too often mechs and op fliers spawn in the center nodes, making it once you get pushed back to your core, your team is screwed. Similar thing with VolcanoHigh. Yesterday, a bunch of bombers spawned at some nodes, letting me always have access to one and ended up dominating the map. You shou...

Re: Admin's Choice, map forcing.

Furious, thanks for the feedback, and I'd love to hear more details but, The Dria and JY maps still (barely) enable that nuance via the mino and/or nuke tank. There has also been a trend towards sniping play (Odin, Mech's, etc) which disadvantages the entire crowd that was attracted to Omni because ...

Map comebacks... some thoughts..

So the post on forcing maps, snarf's comments got me thinking about comebacks... Comebacks are always difficult in ONS. More nodes = more vehicles. If you control 6 nodes and the opponent has core, they are kinda screwed. However, I do agree they should be possible, and it requires careful planning ...

Re: Admin's Choice, map forcing.

Otherwise why would Pooty even do the work at all? Exactly. It takes a fair amount of hours and the editor is kludgy to make everything work... and then no one votes it. I've kind of taken a minimalist approach lately, find a decent map that isn't going to take hours, throw some vehicles at it and ...

Re: Client crash

I'm not sure that I've seen UT2004 use over 1GB, let alone 2.

And "patching" UT2004.exe might get you flagged as using a modified executable...

Re: Admin's Choice, map forcing.

I'd counter not-so-wise. Sometimes a map you think you don't like will either grow on you, or just turn out to be a good match. And there's plenty of not often voted Tank style maps too, even a bunch of "randomizers" that aren't JY, Minus, Dria. And I still haven't played TableTop on the s...
